First of All, Your Child Is Special ...This is an important concept that every child must believe, deep down. The mental and emotional health of your child is just as important as physical health. A child who feels deep down that they are accepted and special will meet new situations and challenges in life with confidence. Parents and teachers do share the responsibility for helping children build self-confidence. A child that believes deep down in his own self-worth is more successful in everyday interactions with peers and adults. This child is more likely to develop positive behavior patterns. Does This Mean Your Child Cannot Eat Ice Cream? Good nutrition does not mean that your children cannot eat their favorite foods or that they must eat foods they do not like. It is human nature to crave the one thing you are denied. Good nutrition means variety and moderation in your child's eating in general. Choosing what foods to eat is important in pursuing a healthy life. Here is an idea. Keep good eating chooses always readily available to your child. Fruits and grains are sweet, tasty and filled with great nutrition. Monitor the 'sometimes' foods--sugary snacks and fatty desserts.

Good health is a blend of physical and emotional well-being. Children don't want to 'exercise' but they do LOVE to play! Make sure that a sufficient part of 'play time' is of a physical nature. Fresh air does amazing things to promote a healthy strong body!

Science says : Aerobic exercises, such as jogging or jumping, that increase the heartbeat, strengthen the heart and muscles, improve endurance, condition the total body, and help prevent disease. Anaerobic, slow, stretching exercises improve flexibility and muscular fitness.

Both types of exercise are important to your child's development. Encourage games that help them stretch and raise the heart beat. If you set time aside to join your child in play, you will not only help them grow but will help yourself stay healthy so you will be around to do the same with your grandchildren one day. Just a thought!
